DISC GOLF AUSTRALIA® ‘#1 In Australia’ |

|
Golf Discs—A general over view |
|
When most Australians are shown a golf disc there first reaction without doubt is “Ah, ‘Frisbee® “ To a certain degree that’s correct, but, would the same apply if you showed of your brand new Ford Falcon and the reaction was “Ah it’s a ‘Model T’?
Even though the original similarities are there in both statements so to is the evolution of both examples. The ‘Model T’ is synonymous with being the first mass produced motor car and the ‘Frisbee®’ as a mass-produced child's toy.
During the first three or four decades many changes were made to the original concept including moulding ridges into the surface of the disc and altering the size of the disc. Some went smaller (saucer size), while others grew larger (up to dust bin lid (trash can) size).
Eventually in 1983 Dave Dunipace (of INNOVA Discs) invents the first modern Golf Disc. on which all discs made today are based upon. With the invention of the Chain catcher and growth of permanent courses the ‘Frisbee®’ had served it’s purpose and a new era had started, Disc Golf the real game.
There are many manufacturers of golf discs and Disc Golf Australia is proud to be associated with three of the best:-
